While single vineyard wines are often considered to be better, given their more focused expression of terroir, there is something to be said about sourcing fruit from several different vineyards and putting them together. It tends to even things out and creates an expressive whole, rather than a single focus. This is what Santa Duc has done here, using fruit from all their Gigondas vineyards.

There is no sacrifice to quality here. It’s certainly the more medium bodied and aromatic of their Gigondas, but it’s truly expressive and truly beautiful. Lush berries come through, with dried rosemary and thyme, and whirlwind of fresh petals. Taut, fresh and complex, this is stunning value for money.

Very long velvety finish which has a remarkably delicacy. A cuvee of eight separate plots on the high plain of Gigondas. About 75% grenache, plus mourvedre and a little bit of syrah and cinsault.”
