The 2021 De Angelis Rosso Piceno is a delightful blend of 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese. This medium-bodied red wine hails from the picturesque Marche region in central Italy, specifically the family-run estate in Castel di Lama, situated in the Ascoli Piceno area.
The vineyards, straddling the Abruzzo line and the hilly terrains of Offida, benefit from eastern exposure and loose clay soil, which proprietor and winemaker Quinto Fausti and his son Alighiero have farmed for many years. It’s fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts and aged four months in steel, followed by six months in the bottle. Certified organic and with minimal sulphur, this wine ensures purity and quality in every sip.
Gambero Rosso says the Rosso Piceno as a consumers dream, straightforward but delicious and a pleasure to drink. Drinking it is a delightful medley of cherry-berry fruits, plummy richness, and a hint of rustic Italian charm.
