The perfect entry-point into the iconic wines of Heathcote’s Wild Duck Creek, the Hammer Hill was originally an exclusive wine for restaurants to have the signature richness and warmth of the WDC house style on their wine lists at a more approachable price point. Thankfully now, you can buy it for your own dinner table!
The grapes for Yellow Hammer Hill are hand-picked from the same vineyards each year, fully de-stemmed, hand-plunged, and basket-pressed. The wine matures for up to 23 months in a mix of older French and American barrels of varying sizes.
This vintage showcases dark fruit compote, earth, and signature spice, with Shiraz bringing plums and mocha, Malbec adding mulberries and herbal notes, and Cabernet Sauvignon contributing fine tannins to the structure.
With its fabulous intensity and bright, savoury finish, the Yellow Hammer Hill offers great value and drinkability. Heart-warming stuff from the Heathcote heartland.

“The wine is supple and fresh, with layers of mulberry, raspberry, licorice, star anise and dark chocolate… Overall, this is a balanced wine that speaks equally of savory tannin and fresh fruit. A pleasure!”
– Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

“Its such a fun wine to drink, all slurpy and loose knit, lucid in red and black berry fruitiness, ripe, round, smooth, supple, a jelly meets currants meets jube thing going on… You can see the pedigree and balance as an observer. Neck oil.”
– Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
