The unknown Ossa wine project from Tasmania was thrust into the limelight when their debut 2000 Pinot Noir release won the Australian Pinot Noir Challenge in 2021, and scored a memorable 98 point review from the Halliday Wine Companion.
Future vintages will include their new home plantings at the Belbrook farm but for now the Pinot is a blend of fruit from premium sites in Coal River Valley, Derwent Valley and, nearer to home, Swansea on the East Coast.
The fruit feels plush and flavoursome, the palate structure is velvety and lengthy, and the balanced acidity underpins a hugely complex wine.
A phenomenal new star in Tasmania’s Pinot Noir firmament that should evolve very gracefully over the next ten years.
