2022 Radikon RS
Red wine from the Radikon family. Yes, it's a thing. A very good thing. The glorious golden wines from Radikon may get all the buzz and attention, however the red wines also come with a level of energy that is palpable and absolutely worth exploring. "RS"
Red wine from the Radikon family. Yes, it’s a thing. A very good thing.
The glorious golden wines from Radikon may get all the buzz and attention, however the red wines also come with a level of energy that is palpable and absolutely worth exploring.
“RS” is a blend of three-quarters Merlot & one-quarter Pignolo.
The wine spends a fairly two weeks on skins before pressing, no additions during the processing save the barest whisper of sulphur at the time of bottling.
It’s a wine that pulls you in multiple directions. The fruit is plump and succulent, the tannins dry and raspy (in the best kind of way), the acidity fresh and crisp – it’s a bit of a ride, as far as red wines go and perhaps not your typical Merlot blend, but wonderful to drink none the less.
“Radikons wines, together with neighbour and erstwhile colleague Joko Gravner, achieved a remarkable consistency and character with their slightly wild, deep, autumnal flavours and beguiling complexity.”
– Simon Woolf (Decanter)
“Its a remarkable site, fit snug into the typical rolling hills and dales of the region, tended daily by hand to ensure greatest health of fruit and optimum (low) yield. A family affair where son Sasa and father Stanko ebb and flow from winery to vineyard and back again.”
– Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
