This joyful red wine perfectly embodies the rebellious and artisan spirit of the Ganevat house, while paying homage to the limestone and marl soils of the region.

The delicate nose reveals aromas of juicy cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry, peony, and pepper. The palate is lively, and fresh, fruity with a touch of spice, underlying acidity and a slight effervescence from the semi-carbonic maceration.

The name “Jaja” (which could be translated to “plonk”) evokes a certain apparent simplicity, but behind this facade lies a seriously masterful cuve, produced from a blend of several Jura plots. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Vinification follows the principles of natural wine: indigenous yeasts, no added sulfur, no filtration, and no fining. Aging takes place in old barrels to preserve the fruit and drinkability of the wine.

Jean-Franois Ganevat – known as Fanfan – is making wine with the inspired magic of an alchemist. He comes from a long line of winegrowers, dating as far back as 1650. He took over the family estate in 1998. With only eight and a half hectares under vine, the family has seventeen different local varieties planted of both red and white grapes – an incredible amount of variation to consider for holdings of such small size. Jean-Franois creates a stunning number of cuves, ranging between thirty-five and forty every year! His methodology goes far beyond the details of the average vigneron.
