Long known as a blending grape, Frappato finds its elegant expression in the hands of Arianna Occhipinti. Light in colour but still very expressive, with notes of cherry, raspberry and white pepper that evolve into fig, blood orange, and even smoke as you drink. Medium-bodied with smooth tannins and good acidity keep you coming back to it.
Arianna Occhipinti is the niece of COS winemaker Giusto Occhipinti, so has winemaking in her blood. The Frappato is born after her young girls dream of making a wine that truly resembles her and pays homage to her homeland in the far south of Sicily. It is here that she has been making wine for the past ten years under the tutelage of her uncle. All the vineyards are worked using biodynamic principals and she takes a non-interventionalist approach in the cellar, allowing the wine to find its own space. Only natural yeasts are used, no temperature control, no fining or filtration and minimal SO2 at bottling.
