An incredible value for an English white wine. This is a textured wine with a generous mouthfeel and lovely flavours of stone fruit and lychee. Both Ortega and Auxerrois come from a Suffolk vineyard – a pairing rarely seen together, producing a soft, rounded English white with a surprisingly generous palate.

Walgate Wines is Ben Walgate’s new project after he left Tillingham wines, established in 2023 in Rye, East Sussex.

Made with whole bunches of Auxerrois and Ortega, pressed 80% to fibreglass tank and 20% to oak barrel and wild fermented. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with low sulphur, this is an unmistakably natural wine but with great precision and tension.
