WHISTLER ATYPICAL SHIRAZ 2024 13.5% 750ML

Located on the golden stretch of Seppeltsfield Road in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Whistler Wines was established in 1997 and is now in the hands of the 2nd generation, Sam Pfeiffer. Whistlers 15 hectares of vineyards operate completely under organic and biodynamic practices and all of the wines are vegan-friendly due to the fact that no fining takes place during the winemaking process.

Plenty to like here. Mid-weighted Barossa shiraz, savoury in shape with a nice, spacious mouthfeel and characters of juicy plum and boysenberry fruits cut with hints of spice, earth, blood orange, citrus blossom and ginger cake. Light, powdery tannins and bright acid cadence; it makes for great drinking. It would probably take a brief chill in the fridge, too, if you’re feeling frisky.
