A remarkable wine brought straight to us from the producer, this Georgianred is made from the Saperavi grape using techniques that are thousands of years old. Deep and complex, it has powerful dark fruit aromas such as blackberry and bramble, along with earthy and spicy nuances. On the palate it has a lovely full body and velvetytannins, balanced perfectly by the medium acidity. The flavours are bold and powerful, leaving a lasting impression on the palate.

Paata, the man behind Aptsiauri, only recently startedsellingthe wines from his vineyard, which has beenin his family for hundreds of years.The vineyard is locatedin the Kakheti Alazani valley, where the Caucasus mountains protect them from the elements. They use the ancientGeorgian traditional Qvevri wine-making method, recognised by UNESCO as an item of intangible cultural heritage in 2013, in which the wine ferments inside a clay amphora which has been buried underground. Paata does not use any chemical additives in the vineyard, and bottles everything unfiltered and unfined,producing complex and flavourful wines that reflect the unique terroir of Kakheti.
